A context-aware mating-planning system built for Genome Breeding Technologies. It creates herd-wide plans animal by animal, reducing inbreeding risk while maximising the herd breeding objectives.
The work
Planning matings well means holding two things in tension: push hard on the breeding objectives, but do not narrow the gene pool doing it.
The planner works animal by animal across a whole herd, weighing each pairing against inbreeding risk and the stated objectives, and produces a plan a breeding adviser can review and adjust rather than a black-box answer.
